It was a huge pleasure spending time in Liverpool, meeting many of you as part of the BBC 6 Music festival.
Phil Wear from Liverpool cycle tours took us on a virtual bike tour of the city, I interviewed Chris Taylor from Parr Street Studios and introduced poets Amita Ariq, Jess Green and Roger McGough who read from his new book Joined Up Writing.
Inspirational.

As for me, a huge trip on the horizon as we head to Kathmandu then to Everest to hike in the incomparable Himalaya. I’m looking forward to meeting the people who make their home in these mountains and finding out more about the Rhododendron, Orchid and other indigenous plant life, plus of course to see in the flesh exactly how far the peaks reach into the sky.
Huge love as ever for all the support over the years, I’ll see you on the other side.
I went to Cheltenham Gold Cup to see the races. Didn’t lose too much and managed to win once: £28, John Cooper Clarke and his wife Evie were a lot luckier. Also there: Johnny green and Jockey club CEO Simon Bazelgette , a great day out, gorgeous horses and company and I’m looking forward to talking underground engineering with Simon in the future on 6 music.
We celebrated the birthday of Lightnin Hopkins, as well as Solomon Burkes and Tony Mcphee of Ground Hogs.
