My composing debut
I’m currently working on composing the music for a new National Theatre production of Our Country’s Good, the first time I’ve composed for the stage.
This is a 1988 play by British playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker, adapted from the Thomas Keneally novel The Playmaker. The story is set in the 1970s and is of a group of Royal Marines and convicts in a penal colony in New South Wales, who put on a production of The Recruiting Officer.
Our Country’s Good was first staged at The Royal Court Theatre in 1988, and ran on Broadway in 1991. The National Theatre now running a production of this brilliant play, and is set to open in August and runs until November. Click here to get your tickets
